Embarrassing Confessional 1

Since playing through Gears of War 1 and 2 recently, I have had to start closing my closet door at night to stop the nightmares about locust soldiers coming into my room to kill me. I turn 30 in March.

Semester ends December 8th. I have 6 revisions, a final exam, and a term paper due. If I survive, I will be sure to let you know how my holiday party goes and whether or not I will be able to pay American Express their money.

Sweet Jesus

A worker died of a heart attack after being stampeded at a Walmart black Friday sale. Four others were hurt.

The world done gone nuts. Tonight I am going to have some cocoa, decorate the Christmas tree with my sister, and not set foot in a retail establishment. I'm pretty thankful for that.

Update: And two others were killed at a Toys R Us in a gun battle. Sounds like something fake, from a movie, does it?

Shrug

I have a good job with a nice, important sounding title. It could even be a career. I'm about to finish my BA. I pay my rent. I own a car. I am, by most available measures, a grown-up. Why do I feel like an idiot child so often? This icky, deep, resonating feeling that I'm just a stupid kid, it's always there. I worry about what I say, and how I'll be judged, and it threatens to swallow me up. I feel like I'm in 10th grade, and I haven't done my homework. I am eternally prepared to be ill-prepared and nothing I do seems to change that. It's especially hard when I feel like the punk kids on shows like the Hills have everything better assembled than I do.

Uno mas

To watch a concession speech by a candidate I didn't vote for was priceless. I couldn't have asked for a better night. It was an incredible evening. To Ethan, Ian, Molly, and babies everywhere--this was for you! We're going to try to get this country in shape for you.

Best. Party. Ever.

What an amazing night to be with friends and right-minded (left-minded) individuals. To drink a toast, with my friends, to the improbable victory of Barack Obama? Fucking unbelievable. Thanks to everyone who came!

Seriously. I can't stop crying. It was that amazing.

Curiouser and Curiouser

I had no idea that Anne Rice is now a Christian lit writer!?! The author of Interview with a Vampire and Beauty's Punishment (an S&M novel) is now looking to take "whatever I learned from being a vampire writer, or whatever I was -- to be able to take those tools now and put them in the service of God."

So weird.

I've been at my computer too long. Won't this semester just be over already.

Elizabeth Montgomery, Samantha on Bewitched, read Beauty's Punishment as a book on tape. I find that interesting and strange. She was also a grand marshal at the Los Angeles gay rights parade with Dick Sargent, who was gay. So many fascinating tidbits on the wikipedia.
